Why don't you have a six pack of abs?
As recently as yesterday I heard someone say "If it's simple, why isn't someone else doing it?".
I've come across this countless times from people with an idea, or in pursuit of an opportunity. They're either not talking about the idea, afraid that someone might steal it. Or they are discouraged to build it because it seems "too simple" not to exist already.
Building something, a startup or a product is a lot like getting abs. It takes time, effort and discipline to get abs. The recipe is simple for most people, just get into a calorie deficit and do some exercise. But it's hard to do, and maintain over time.
Building something can be the same, simple and hard. That combination discourages people from stealing your idea, or building it themselves despite knowing HOW to do it practically.
Simple to do ≠ Easy to execute
So here's my take: speak about your idea. As much as you can. Because even though you might find someone capable of building it, they most probably wont. Just as they probably don't have abs. … mer
