Building a practice can be hard at times. It takes time, resilience and grit.
Yet, we know a lot of people who’ve managed to do the same thing every day for extraordinary amounts of days in a stretch.
What that shows us is that building a daily practice is possible, and all of us can do it. All of us can’t do any daily practice, but we can build a practice.
From what I’ve understood, one of the key things to building that practice is to incorporate it in your identity. Becoming the type of person who does your type of thing.
I’m the kind of person who takes cold showers.
I’m the type of person who never misses a work session.
I’m the type of person who reads daily.
The second thing I’ve learned, in order to build resilience, is to be nice to oneself. Being the type of person who forgives yourself, and comes back to the practice. Time and time again.
What type of person doing what type of things would you like to be?
