Traffic needs trust.
Our whole society, every little bit of it, is build on trust. There is nothing out there that doesn’t rely on you trusting the person who built it. The building you’re in could collapse, but you trust the people that built it did the best job they could. In turn, you trust that the people who set the rules for how houses are to be built did their homework. You trust that when the light on the street turns red, the cars will stop.
The thing about trust is that it’s a dish served fresh. It always needs to be revisited and proven.
When trust works, when it’s revisited and proven, it works beautifully. When it works, real wonders can be achieved just through the space created in between people. In the trust that we give each other.
It’s a wonder that traffic works as well as it does. It’s a wonder that humans have built all of the things that have been built. And it couldn’t have been done without trust.
