A writer always creates something out of nothing. The page was blank, there was nothing on it, and now there is. It might be packed with information, thoughts, ideas or humor. All depending on who’s reading. But all of us will agree that there was nothing, and now there is something.

A writer creates something not out of nothing, but out of their experience. The poet that writes grasping, mesmerising poems has experience in writing. Not only putting together words on the computer or in the notebook, but in what words will create what type of feeling in most readers.

They have experience in what words can be cut out, and what words are to be swapped out.

The same way, the painter has knowledge of how the colors blend on the specific type of canvas they’re painting on. They’ve tried different methods for painting. They’ve probably tried different brands of paint. Brushes. Painting at different hours of the day. And so on.

The point of all of this is to understand that when we see a creative creating, we don’t see the big band. There isn’t nothing one moment to be something the other. There’s work behind all of it. There’s a process for creativity, and it’s different to each and every creative.

Nothing is created out of nothing.
