What if magic is something completely different from what you previously thought it was? If you found yourself using magic each and every day?

I recently stumbled upon a definition of magic that turned the way I think of magic upside down completely, and has made it possible for me to think of it in a whole new way.

“(Magick is) the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will.”

— Aleister Crowley

In that perspective, magic is any persuasion, any creation and any creativity that we see in the world. By that definition, everything that happens by our interference that we also wanted to happen, is magic. All of it.

That in and out of itself might not be remarkable in any sense. It might not be affecting us in any way, as the concept rather than the action changes. Nothing in our behaviour changes, we just have a new word to give the behaviour.

Put in practice, we can say that anything from PR and marketing to architecture and crafting is magic. In that sense, we’re all magicians. That’s remarkable to me as it gives an opportunity. An opportunity for creativity and creation. For defining oneself as not just a creator, not only a marketer but a magician. Someone creating something in a way that they want it to be.

What are you going to use magic for?
