The tribe member was never afraid of asking for help. It was seen as a way of inviting another member to feel like they’re a part. An invitation to community and family. An invitation to belonging.
The child isn’t afraid of asking for help. It asks without shame and without expectation. The child never cares what the receiver of the question is going to think of them. They simply ask.
The team member is afraid of asking for help. It doesn’t want to seem weak or be a burden of their team members. The team member is afraid what the team is going to think of them and lets that fear guide their decisions.
The grown up is afraid of asking for help. When asking, the grown up often conceal their ask with an offer to change services. Afraid and ashamed.v
